Where to Find It

In the teacher app, open Student Practice from the sidebar under Engagement.

The page has two tabs:

• Leaderboard
• Practice logs

The Leaderboard Tab

The leaderboard is designed to mirror the student view in the Hub. It is school-wide, not limited to one teacher's students.

At the top of the page, you'll see:

• a large leaderboard header
• coloured category cards for different ranking styles
• mode buttons such as This Week, Last 7 Days, This Month, and Last 30 Days
• a podium showing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place

What the Leaderboard Shows

Teachers can switch between different leaderboard categories, including:

• Practice Hours
• Sessions
• Consistency
• Momentum

Each category has its own ranking modes. For example, you might look at practice hours for this month, or current streaks, or longest sessions.

Only students who have opted in to the leaderboard appear in the rankings.

Refreshing the Leaderboard

The page refreshes leaderboard data when you land on it. There is also a refresh button beside the leaderboard size controls so you can pull the latest rankings again straight away.

This is especially useful after a student changes their leaderboard participation setting.

Show 10 / 20 / 50

The Show buttons control how many ranked students appear in the list underneath the podium.

The controls only appear when they are useful:

• if there are fewer than 10 ranked students, the size controls are hidden
• if there are 10 to 19 ranked students, you see 10 and 20
• if there are 20 or more ranked students, you see 10, 20, and 50

The top 3 podium always stays visible.

When a Student Doesn't Appear

If you know a student has logged practice but they are missing from the leaderboard, the most common reason is that they have not opted in from their Hub settings.

Other common reasons are:

• the school has not enabled leaderboards for the Hub
• the practice was logged outside the selected date window
• the practice entry was not completed properly

The Practice Logs Tab

The Practice logs tab is a teacher-facing, read-only view of completed student practice.

Unlike the leaderboard, this tab is scoped to your own students and teaching contexts.

When you open it, the layout is split into two parts:

• a student picker on the left
• the selected student's practice calendar and day detail on the right

Choosing a Student and Enrolment

Start by choosing the student you want to review.

Once a student is selected, Octavia shows their available enrolments as chips under Enrolment. These can include:

• Individual enrolments
• Group enrolments

This lets you look at practice in the right context rather than mixing everything together.

Reviewing the Monthly View

The main panel shows a month at a glance for the selected enrolment.

At the top of the month view, you'll see summary cards for:

• total logged practice for the month
• number of active practice days
• the currently selected day

You can move between months with Previous, Today, and Next.

Each day in the calendar shows either:

• the total practice logged for that day, plus the number of sessions
• or No practice if nothing was logged

Reviewing a Day's Practice

Click any day in the calendar to open the day detail panel underneath.

If practice was logged on that day, each entry shows:

• the duration
• the time, where available
• whether it was logged against an individual or group context
• any student notes saved with that practice session

If nothing was logged for that day in the selected enrolment, Octavia shows a clear empty state instead.

Empty and Loading States

On the Practice logs tab, you may see different states depending on the data available:

• Loading students... while Octavia fetches your student list
• No teacher-scoped students were found yet. if there are no students available for this page
• Loading practice logs... while the selected month is loading
• No completed practice logs for this day in the selected context. when a chosen day has no entries

What This Page Is Best For

Student Practice is useful when you want to:

• quickly see which students are active on the leaderboard
• compare different kinds of practice habits across the school
• review one student's completed practice for a particular month
• check whether practice was logged against an individual or group enrolment
• read the notes a student saved with a practice entry
