Rescheduling a Lesson
You can reschedule one lesson or many at once. A single lesson can be moved to a new date and time. Multiple lessons can be moved to a new date (preserving each lesson's original time), or shifted forward or backward by
Ways to Reschedule
There are two main surfaces for rescheduling:
- Lessons list — select one or more lessons and use the reschedule action. This gives the most control, including the bulk day-offset mode.
- Calendar — drag a lesson to a new day or time slot in the calendar.
Both paths update the same lesson record. The calendar view always reflects the result.
Rescheduling a Single Lesson
When you select exactly one lesson and choose to reschedule, the modal lets you edit:
- Date — the new date for the lesson
- Time — the new start time
Both date and time are editable for a single lesson. The end time is recalculated automatically from the lesson type's duration — you don't set it directly.
Rescheduling Multiple Lessons
When you select more than one lesson, you can still pick a new date — but the time-of-day editing is not available in multi-lesson mode. Each lesson's original time of day is preserved; only the date changes. This is useful for moving a series of lessons to a different week.
Bulk Reschedule: Moving by a Number of Days
For more complex moves, expand the More options section in the reschedule modal. This reveals a second mode: moving lessons by a fixed offset rather than picking a specific target date.
You set:
- Direction — forward or backward
- Number of days — how far to shift (for example, 7 days to move a whole week)
In this mode, every selected lesson is shifted by the same number of days while keeping its original time-of-day. This is particularly useful for:
- Moving a term's worth of lessons forward one week because of a public holiday
- Backfilling lessons that were scheduled a day too late
- Shifting a student's series to a new day of the week
If you close More options again, the modal switches back to the standard date-based reschedule mode. This helps keep the visible controls aligned with the mode you're using.
Timezone Behaviour
When you reschedule an existing lesson, the date and time are shown and interpreted in your local timezone.
This is different from setting up a student's or group's regular lesson day and time. Regular lesson setup and lesson generation use the school timezone instead.
In practice, that means:
- Rescheduling an existing lesson — uses your local timezone
- Setting a regular weekly lesson time — uses the school timezone
- Creating or generating lessons from lesson setup — uses the school timezone
If required information is missing, the modal tells you what still needs to be entered before it will save. After a successful reschedule, the updated lesson timing is reflected in the lessons list and calendar.
What Rescheduling Does Not Change
Rescheduling changes the date and time of the lesson — nothing else. It does not:
- Change the lesson type, duration, or rate
- Affect the location (the snapshot stays as it was)
- Alter any attendance record already on the lesson
- Affect any invoice the lesson is already linked to
If you need to move a lesson that is already invoiced, be aware that the invoice was created for the original billing period. Rescheduling the lesson does not automatically update or void the invoice.
