Online Makeup Bookings

Online makeup booking lets families and students book their own makeup lessons from the slots you make available, instead of every makeup being scheduled by hand. You turn the feature on in your Hub settings, choose whet

Turning On Online Makeup Booking

Open School Settings and go to Hub Settings. Toggle the Enable online makeup booking setting to on. This exposes makeup booking to families through the Family Hub.

Choosing Your Booking Mode and Notifications

With the feature enabled, select your booking mode:

  • Booking request — a teacher needs to confirm each makeup booking before it is scheduled.
  • Instant booking — the booking is made instantly when a family selects one of the allowed makeup slots, with no confirmation step.

Then decide who should be notified about booking requests: the relevant teacher, the school's admin accounts, or both. Click Save settings when you're done.

Setting Makeup Expiry Rules

Expiry settings control how long a family can see and book a makeup after the original lesson. Go to School Settings → Lesson Settings, find the Attendance card, then click the edit pencil icon next to the attendance row that allows a makeup lesson.

Set the Expiry days — this determines how long the makeup stays valid after the original lesson. Then choose the expiry rule:

  • Lesson must occur by expiry — the student must both book the makeup and have the makeup lesson take place before the expiry date.
  • Must be booked by expiry — the makeup only needs to be booked before expiry; the makeup lesson itself can occur at any time.

Click Save attendance settings to apply the rule.

When a makeup expires

Once a makeup passes its deadline, families can no longer see or book it in the Family Hub, and it drops off your dashboard and calendar makeup lists. It isn't deleted. You can still schedule it yourself as an exception from the student's detail page (Lessons tab) or the Manage Students page, or forfeit it if the student is no longer owed it. A makeup you forfeit is also removed from the Family Hub straight away.

Creating Available Booking Slots

Families can only book makeups into windows you open. To manage availability and view pending requests, go to your Calendar.

To create an available window, click and drag across the time range you want to offer, then select Create makeup booking slot. Confirm the details and click Create slot. The window is now bookable by families with an eligible makeup.

Managing Requests and Scheduling

To view pending requests and makeups that still need to be scheduled, click the Makeup Scheduling card. There you'll see a list of makeup lessons waiting to be scheduled, along with any pending booking requests from families — ready for you to confirm, schedule, or act on. Each makeup without a pending request also has a Forfeit credit link (for the lesson's teacher or an admin) if the student is no longer owed it.

A makeup with a pending family request can't be forfeited until you've confirmed or declined that request.
