Enrolling Students in a Practiceathon

Students are added to a Practiceathon from the Enrolled Students tab in the Practiceathon detail view. You can add individual students or entire groups. Each student becomes a separate participation entry — their practic

How Enrolment Works

A Practiceathon enrolment is the link between a student and a campaign. Every student who participates needs to be enrolled. Their practice logs, leaderboard position, and (if fundraising is enabled) their public profile and supporter records are all tied to their enrolment.

One student can have more than one active enrolment in the same Practiceathon. This is intentional — a student might be enrolled once as an individual and once as part of a group, representing separate participation contexts. Practice logs and totals are tracked per enrolment.

Adding Students

From the Practiceathon detail view, open the Enrolled Students tab and click Add students. A picker modal opens showing your current active students and groups.

You can add students in two ways:

Individual students — adds one student at a time. The enrolment is linked directly to that student's record. This is the standard choice for most scenarios.

Groups — adds all members of a student group in one action. Each member of the group gets their own enrolment entry, but the enrolments are flagged as group-derived. This is useful for adding an entire ensemble or class at once.

Select the students and/or groups you want to include and confirm. The enrolments are created immediately.

The Enrolled Students Table

The Enrolled Students tab shows a table of all enrolments. Each row includes:

  • Student name — the student's name as it appears in their record
  • Instrument — the instrument associated with the student or group
  • Teacher — the teacher linked to that student or group
  • Type — whether the enrolment is Individual or part of a Group (with the group name shown)

The table can be sorted by any column by clicking the column header.

Removing a Student

To remove a student from the Practiceathon, click the delete icon at the end of their row and confirm. Removing a student deactivates their enrolment — their historical practice data is retained, but they no longer appear in the active campaign, the leaderboard, or the public page.

School-Wide vs. Teacher-Owned Campaigns

If the Practiceathon is school-wide, any teacher at the school can add their own students. Each teacher sees their own students in the picker. Admins can also add students on behalf of other teachers.

If the Practiceathon is teacher-owned (not school-wide), only the creator of the Practiceathon and admins can add and manage enrolments.

When to Add Students

You can add students at any point — before, during, or after the campaign dates. That said, adding students before the start date is the recommended approach so they can begin logging practice from day one.

Students added mid-campaign can still log practice for the remaining days. Their totals will naturally be lower than students who participated from the beginning, so it's worth communicating this to families when adding late participants.
