Who Can Change SMS Settings
The SMS notifications page in School Settings is admin-only for making changes. Admins can enable SMS for the school, set the sender label, choose which categories families may opt into, and buy credit top-ups.
Non-admin teachers can open the page, but the controls are read-only — they can see the current setup and balance, but cannot change settings or purchase credits.
One Shared Credit Balance
Your school has a single SMS credit balance, not one per teacher. Every SMS the studio sends — weekly reminders for any teacher's lessons, and any teacher's news announcements — draws from the same pool. When an admin tops up, the credits are available to the whole school.
Because the balance is shared, it's worth keeping an eye on it if several teachers are sending, so a large send by one teacher doesn't leave another short. Topping up is covered in SMS credits and top-ups.
Sending News by SMS Across Teachers
Sending a news item by SMS follows the normal news permissions: whoever can publish and send a news item can send it by SMS. Admins can do this for news across the school. What Stays the Same
Everything else about SMS behaves as described in the main section. Family opt-in and consent, the two notification categories, how credits are consumed by country and message length, and the "stop rather than half-send" safety on low balances all work the same way regardless of studio size.
