What is a Multi-Teacher Studio?

A multi teacher studio is a school with more than one teacher. As soon as your school has a second teacher, Octavia automatically switches on a set of extra features: teacher management, an admin view across the whole sc

How Octavia Decides

There is no setting to turn on. Octavia treats your school as a multi-teacher studio whenever it has more than one teacher. When you add your second teacher, the multi-teacher features appear automatically; the articles in this section describe each of them.

Admins and Teachers

In a multi-teacher studio, every user is either an admin or a teacher. This is the single distinction that drives who sees what.

Admins run the school. On top of their own teaching, admins can:

Teachers (non-admins) work with their own students, lessons, calendar, and notes exactly as the main knowledge base describes. They can also view room bookings for the school, and they can be assigned as a substitute to cover another teacher's lesson.

When a teacher is added to a performance by its organiser, that performance also appears in the teacher's calendar. The organiser and studio admins manage the teachers attached to a performance; everyone included can see the other teachers involved.

What Changes When Your Studio Becomes Multi-Teacher

A few things in the app move or appear once a second teacher exists:

  • Room Bookings appears in the sidebar for everyone, and a Rooms tab appears in School Settings
  • Manage Teachers appears in the sidebar for admins
  • The Viewing selector appears for admins on News, Performances, Practiceathons, the Calendar, Lessons, and the Scheduler
  • The Money section (Student billing, Expenses, Reports) is visible to admins only — non-admin teachers no longer see it
  • Student and parent details are edited through Manage Students and Manage Parents rather than on the individual student page
  • The Pay As You Go billing mode is not available in multi-teacher studios
  • New teachers see a short set of activation steps on their dashboard the first time they log in, including changing their password

What Stays the Same

Everything else. Scheduling, attendance, lesson notes, billing contracts, performances, practiceathons, and the Family Hub all work as described in their own sections of this knowledge base. Where a feature behaves differently in a multi-teacher studio, the relevant article carries a short callout pointing here.
