How Credits Work
A lesson pack credit represents one prepaid lesson. Credits exist individually — a 10 lesson pack creates 10 separate credit records. Each credit starts as available and is consumed one at a time when a lesson is attende
Credits Are Created on Payment
When a lesson pack invoice is paid, the system activates the pack. Activation does two things:
- Creates a pack record (the commercial summary — which student, which lesson type, how many lessons, which invoice it came from)
- Creates one credit record for each lesson in the pack — all starting as
available
Until the invoice is paid, none of this exists. You can't use a pack to cover lessons, and nothing appears in the pack usage view, because there's nothing to show yet.
How Credits Are Tracked
Each individual credit is its own record in the system. This means:
- A 10-lesson pack has exactly 10 credit records
- You can see exactly which lessons each credit was used for
- Credits can be restored individually if you need to correct a billing decision (see Correcting Lesson Pack Billing)
This design makes packs fully auditable and reversible. There's no counter that gets decremented — each credit is a unit that can be traced to a specific lesson and a specific attendance event.
Credit Status
Each credit is always in one of two states:

| Available | Not yet used — waiting to be applied to an attended lesson |
| Consumed | Applied to a specific attended lesson |
When a credit is consumed, the system records exactly which lesson it was used for and which attendance event triggered the consumption. This linkage is what makes billing corrections possible later.
A Credit Is Tied to a Specific Enrolment
Credits inherit the scope of the pack they came from. A credit from a pack tied to a student's individual piano lessons can only be consumed against those individual piano lessons — not against a group lesson, not against a different instrument, not against a different duration.
This scoping is enforced automatically. You don't need to manage it manually; the system applies the right credits to the right lessons.
When a Pack Is Exhausted
Once all credits are consumed, the pack is exhausted. The system records when the last credit was consumed. At that point, the student needs a new pack to continue on prepaid terms.
If a credit is later restored (because you corrected a billing error), the pack becomes active again and the restored credit is available for reuse.
